Polishers & Burnishers
Floor polishers and burnishers are used to clean and buff a range of floor types.
Floor polishers are available at different speeds (or RPM), typically up to 750rpm for regular speed polishers and over 1,000 rpm for ultra high-speed polishers.
Regular speed polishers can use a range of standard pads for polishing, scrubbing and stripping. Ultra high-speed floor polishers can use a wider range of floor pads. Some may include horsehair to raise the friction generated heat to partially reformulate the polish for higher gloss, like the jackaroo lite pad
For more information in which pads to use click here
The two types of floor polishers are:
Suction polishers, which are designed with a vacuum to collect debris and dirt hen using the machine. A skirt surrounding the spinning pad traps the debris in the spinning pad and collects it (Note: suction polishers are not designed to collect large amounts of liquid)
Non-Suction polishers, which strip, scrub, polish or clean the floor with no vacuumed collection. This means a floor squeegee or electrostatic mop can be used to collect leftover dirt and rubbish.
Floor stripping requires stripping chemicals like ZipStrip, Xpoly8, Steamroller Extra heavy-duty stripper, Sledgehammer, Formula X, Power Strip. A highly abrasive black stripping pad or brown dry stripping pad is used under the polisher to release the old sealer, which is then removed manually or with a scrubber and the floor neutralised.
To sand floors, you will need a Floor Sander
A floor sander with a rotary head looks like a polisher, but the motor is stronger to deal with the significant torque generated by the abrasive sanding process compared with a polisher designed to slide over surfaces. The speed is slower. Polisher manufacturers will refuse to accept any motor warranty claim where a polisher has been used in a sanding application
